Auctions and heat

These past few weeks have been hot around here. With a daily temperature around 90and a heat index around 100 it is tough to want to do much. That being said, I wanted to talk about the house and how energy efficient it already is. The downstairs of the house is approximately 2200 square feet. We have one 110volt 5000BTU window air conditioning unit in a window. The average inside temperature runs about 81 on these 90 + days. The inside of the 600 square foot trailer we are living in with three of the same air conditioners running....is 85. The trailer is from 1994 and we put newer windows and doors in it and it still gets that hot in here. Some days I go find things to work on in the house because it is actually cooler in there!
This last week we went to a couple of auctions. the first auction we went to we really didn't get anything. The second one we went to...we filled a 16 foot trailer and had to leave behind about 2 of the same trailers full of stuff. We spent a grand total of $86 with tax at the second auction.
All this trim we paid $25 for.

All this trim we paid $15 for.

We paid $20 and got 4 solid oak doors and 3 bi-fold oak doors.

We paid $5 for all these pieces of counter top. We bought one of them for my mom.

This is all that we could fit on the trailer to take home. We did not have a way to come back for the rest and it took us 4 hours to sort through and load all of this.

We have been putting some finishing touches on a few of the rooms. Chris and I both are getting overwhelmed with all the work to be done still so we decided to work on finishing a few of the rooms to make it feel more like we are making headway.
The trim is up and I am working on painting and then touch up paint. We have crown molding to put up in here. It is painted but we ran out of time this weekend to get it up.

This bedroom is DONE. ( except for touch up paint and cleaning)

One down and three more very close!

Some of the finishing touches downstairs

We have been working on just little bits of stuff. Trying to get a storage unit emptied out and things installed. We had to go through the units anyway to figure out what we have already purchased and what we have left to buy. Honestly we have a few more light fixtures, one ceiling fan, one closet door and a bathroom and kitchen faucet to buy still. It seems that we have most everything else. I am sure there will be other little things here and there.

We installed the kitchen cabinets. Chris has to go back and put in filler pieces but for the most part that is done. We have to figure out countertops still. We go back and forth on what we want to do.

We installed the lights in the kitchen. Not all of the electrical is hooked up yet so some of the lights work and some do not. The switches are not installed yet and we only had a few lights hot so that we could work on the house.

This is the tin that runs down the back hall. We were able to get it painted and installed but still need to give it another coat of paint after caulking it. The doors downstairs have been painted and installed now. We even have door knobs on! We have installed lights and ceiling fans int he rooms downstairs too.
Not much has changed in here. I just wanted to take a picture of the Coca cola cooler we will be transforming into a sink base.

The downstairs walls are painted.

We have been working on getting the downstairs walls all painted. We had to cover up all of the floors first and then finish up the little touch ups on the drywall. So, this is what it looks like now...

This is the main floor bathroom. We picked a blue because there was already so much blue in the license plates.
This is the guestroom. It is a grey/green color.

This is the gameroom.
The bathroom off of the gameroom. It is a light brown.
The back hall will be a light yellow.

The laundry room is a darker peach color.

The library ceiling has a darker blue tin and the rest of the room is a very light blue.
These are some tiles that we picked up for $1.29 a sheet. We are not sure where we will use them yet!
Maybe we will use them in the kitchen. It is a light grey.

These are another type of tile we pick up for $1.56 a sheet. We are thinking these will go in the upstairs bathroom.
These two pictures are of the finished floor and what it looks like downstairs.

Next we are working on the air conditioning units because the electrician in coming back in a week or so. We will also be working on the drywall finishing of the upstairs on each side.
